It's a long stretch of Highway. It's highway 58. Just outside of Barstow. Got feelings I can't shake.
Tumbleweeds rollin rollin, on this dusty ole road. My minds' in overdrive..bout to explode.....
On the way to Vegas.
You can get what you want..they won't even no yo name. You can put out that fire..it might stop you..from goin insane.........

I wrote King Cotton probably around 2010 or so, maybe earlier. I never got it recorded until 2014. It is all about what goes on with cotton, from the planting, to harvesting, to ginning and then exporting to the mill to spin into fiber for all types of uses. I was brought up around cotton ginning. My father was a famous cotton gin engineer. This song, in the end is really a tribute to him and the love I had for him. After a long teaching career, I finally joined his company he had formed. After he passed, I continued to run it till this day. So cotton is king for me too. King Cotton is a mellow song, stripped down with just a guitar, mandolin and fiddle. I noticed it was being downloaded more on the last sales report I got. I have never promoted it very much. So..maybe I will now. Giving you the link to check it out and purchase it if you would like.
For those of you that have never seen a cotton gin, or have no idea how they work, here ya go. Cotton flowing down the gin stand apron where it will be engaged by saws and pulled through gin ribs The seed can't make it through and fall out at the bottom and are conveyed to a seed house for storage to be sold later. The cotton fiber continues on to a big press where it is pressed into a bale. It will be sold to mills where it will be spun into fibers used for all types of applications. Shirts, sheets, all types of clothing. Indeed, Cotton is king. For some reason I decided to listen to Bob Dylan's "Blowin in the Wind," a few months back. I was struck by the lyrics and even moved by them. Much of what he is writing about in 1962, well... its still "blowin in the wind today." Even worse. Not a very good commentary on progress of our world as a civilization and as a people. Wars. Hate. Intolerance. Much driven by religion. A paradox? Yeah. I took a crack at the song. It is rough around the edges, has blemishes and imperfections. But I just wanted to do it. I am printing the lyrics below. In the year 2018, things should not still....be "blowin in the wind." My version can be found here on my podomatic show today. Click on Human's Show Link. Peace. Blowin in the Wind Bob Dylan 1962 How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? How many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, and how many times must the cannonballs fly Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind Yes, and how many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea? Yes, and how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free? Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head And pretending that he just doesn't see? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind Yes, and how many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, and how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind Bob Dylan

I had a whole bunch of good songs when I entered Dana Long's Studio in Visalia, CA in late 2007 or early 2008. My V8 Ford was one of them. Dana Liked it so much that we saved it until the end of the session. It would be the last one we would do. Me and Dana ended up being the only 2 musicians that played on the track. When you listen, you will find this amazing. I play rhythm guitar, bass, some early lead, and do the vocals. Dana plays drums and does all the killer lead and guitar affects, especially later in the song. The song builds as it progresses, until its an absolute monster at the end. I did not have enough pictures to let the song play to the end on this YouTube, but I think you will get the drift. It is on Human Project II, Humanized released in 2008 and mastered by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound in NYC. So. Enjoy!

Get Humanized. I wanted to take time to wish all Human Project fans a Happy Thanksgiving. It is a time to show love and gratitude for what we have and I am grateful for all my friends and fans. I did my first CD in 2006 and it was called The Real Stuff. I had no plans to do another one. The only reason I did was because of the reception I received from you. The only reason I keep doing this is because of you. It is very gratifying to have my music well received. For those of you out of this country that do not celebrate this holiday. I still give thanks to all of you as well. For all the same reasons. Peace and love to all of you. The Human
