Top Human Project Downloads for June 2020

7/5/2020

June was another pretty good month for downloads sales of Human Project Music.  It seems many are going back and listening to some of my older releases like "The Real Stuff," that was released in 2006.    Songs from the new release, "Intersection," does not show up in sales yet.  It will take approximately 60 days to get into the system. I have high expectations for it.
This month, 60 different Human Project songs were downloaded from my various releases.  People from 25 different countries hopped on board.  Of these 60 downloads, I wrote 55 of them.  How many songs total have I written?  I really lost count. I know well over 70.  I also know other artists are recording some of them and I look forward to my next report next month to find out exactly how many and which songs.
This is the breakdown for June sales:

Thanks for all your support of Human Project Music.  Thanks to all that downloaded, "Intersection," and to those considering downloading it.  I am a purely self made artist. I write, record and do all the promotional work by myself.  If I go into the studio, (last time was 2017) I am fortunate to have some very good local musicians to draw upon.  I have my favorites who know my style and what works for me. Thanks to all of them.

A few comments about "Intersection."
I am very proud of this release.  It was recorded entirely in my home studio.  I play all the instruments on every track and sing all the vocals.  AC Myles of Fresno, CA provides hot lead guitar work on 3 of the tracks.  This release has more of a home grown, organic feel to it.  Some songs I dug deeper into the lyrics.  The title track, "Intersection," is a good example of this.  Some commentary about each song for you.
Something Big:
Something big was written by Tom Petty, It is on his Hard Promises release from 1981.  I always liked it, so I took a crack at it.  My version is more of a stripped down, acoustic driven one with AC Myles providing searing lead guitar work.  I had to change the bridge to make it work for me and the direction I was taking it.  This is a very strong track and I am pleased with the way this one finished up.  A jammin tune for sure.
The Intersection:
I wrote this one and it just might be my best song yet out of so many I have written over the years.  It is about growing old, how long it takes to get there, and then the realization that you have indeed gotten old and have reached, "The Intersection."  This is when you cross over from youth to advanced age and it moves very quickly after this.  A poignant, acoustic driven track with killer harmonies.
Raisin Cane:
A hard rockin track that describes a guys venture out on his high powered bike to do some partying, and ultimately his escape from this back to reality.  Lead guitar work provided by Fresno's AC Myles. Words and music by Loyd Vandergriff
Ode To Nam:
A very sparse acoustic driven track about Vietnam vets, and what they faced when they returned home from the war.  Words and music by Loyd Vandergriff.
You Keep Watching Me:
Another acoustic driven track that simply cooks.  Just a hot jam that cruises along with song tasty harmonica provided by The Human.  Written by Kent Dykes of Omar and the Howlers.
Corona:
The Human wrote Corona in February. There was only ONE case in the USA at the time.  In it, he lays out what could happen, and as you listen you will see that the lyrics are prescient in nature.  This is a jammin acoustic track reminiscent of Richie Haven's opening at Woodstock.  There are some killer conga's in the track and AC Myles of Fresno lays down an absolutely smokin lead guitar track.
Well All Right:
Well All Right was written by Buddy Holly and of course I was and am, a big fan. So, I decided to take on "Well Allright."  It's a tight jammin track.
Working Class Hero:
Written by John Lennon and on one of his solo releases after leaving the Beatles.  Always a favorite, I decided to take a shot at this one as well.  A sparse acoustic driven track, similar to Lennon's but with Human touches added.
Gin That Cotton:
I wrote this one about Cotton Ginning. This track uses lyrics that some won't understand if they have no understanding of ginning cotton. So it will have a rather narrow audience appeal.  But I wanted to include it on this release.
All Come Together:
This song I wrote has a 60's vibe of peace and love and tossing aside all of our differences and coming together as a nation.  It is idealistic and even utopian in nature, since the idea that we could all come together during these times seems remote.  The spirit of the 60's is long gone, replace by bitterness and partisanship.  But I wanted to record it and put it out there for those who still cling to hope that this could happen.

So, This is The Intersection. I hope you will consider downloading it into your phone or computer and checking it out.

Thanks for all your support over the years.
